How to access GPs and primary care services in UK?
General Practitioner (GP) services are at present, free for people who come to live and work in the United Kingdom. At present this is true for visitors like parents as well. Therefore, anybody may register and consult with a GP WITHOUT charge. It is important to register with a General Practitioner in your local area. The practice website or booklet would give you advise on the specific services that the individual practice would provide. Visits to see the general practitioner (the first point of contact with non-emergency medical problem), primary care nurse, physiotherapist, pregnancy related support etc… can be accessed through the GP surgery. Also, for work related issues like sickness absence, the general practitioner can provide support and unfit note if they are contacted.
